Matthias Schürfeld in Germany has built a beautiful 8 x 10 flatbed camera. Inspired by the Lotus cameras, he spent a year planning the camera. The work itself took about one and a half years. The camera is made of poplar plywood and aluminum. But Matthias would recommend brass for metal parts because brass is easier to work with. The ground glass was taken from a Tachihara 8 x 10. Lotus View Camera provided the fabric for the bellows. Matthias is now planning to write a guide for constructing a flatbed camera. The first edition will be in German.
